Tim – Senior Systems Engineer

Video transcript: It’s about getting out and about, trying to enjoy my work.
You get to see lots of different varied buildings all over the country, which is probably one of my favorite parts. I’ve been to places like the Old War Office, Windsor Castle, lots of different universities.
What you’re doing is having a positive impact on people’s lives. When you get home at night, you can think ‘that’s a good thing I’ve done there’. I’ve put some stuff in which potentially might save someone’s life in the future. Which is, it’s quite rewarding.
Senior Systems Engineer Tim is responsible for installing and maintaining our emergency voice communication systems and Deaf fire alarm systems.
He carries out site surveys, installs new systems, and makes sure existing ones are working as they should.
His role takes him behind the scenes at some incredible places – from historic buildings to modern universities and workplaces – with no two days ever being quite the same:

His favourite thing about the job? Knowing that the systems he’s installing are making a real difference to people’s lives:
“When you get home at night, you think ‘I’ve put some stuff in which potentially might save someone’s life in the future’, which is quite rewarding.”
Tim’s experience is a great example of what it’s like to work here: a mix of variety, learning, and the satisfaction of knowing our systems have a real, positive impact in helping keep others safe.
