Alerter Group cuts carbon dioxide emissions – and aims for even more environmental improvements

Jun 29, 2023

Technology company Alerter Group is doing its bit for the environment, announcing that in 2022 it reduced its total carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 14.7% compared to the previous year.

This figure includes scope 1, 2 and 3 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) measurements.

The result aligns with the Derbyshire-based company’s target to reduce its environmental impact every year even while its business continues to grow.

Alerter Group CEO Chris Haseldine explains:

“We’re really pleased to have reduced our CO2 emissions in 2022 as a result of careful planning and the work of people across the business to operate both responsibly and sustainably.

“Our environmental plans don’t end here; looking ahead, we have already instigated additional measures this year which should bring further significant savings during 2023 and future years.”

More than 40% of Alerter Group’s energy is currently consumed from renewable resources.

Alerter Group, which was established more than two decades ago, develops emergency communication systems such as fire alarm systems for Deaf and hard of hearing people, as well as building refuge systems for use by people with reduced mobility.

The company has been part of Infrastructure Technology Group Sdiptech since 2020.

Both Alerter Group and parent company Sdiptech are targeting to lower their operational impact on the environment, with a shared belief that investments made today affect the amount of GHG that could be emitted in the future.

Sdiptech itself aims to reduce its carbon dioxide intensity (CO2e/turnover) from its own operations by 50% within five years (between 2021 and 2026), saying:

“We continually work to reduce the environmental impact and strive for high efficiency when it comes to energy and natural resources, promote systems for reuse and recycling of materials and energy, as well as prevent and limit environmental pollution.”

More details about Sdiptech’s commitment to sustainability can be found on its website.
