Environmental update: Alerter Group reduces CO2e/turnover by 59%

Jun 27, 2024

Since 2021 we’ve more than halved our CO2e/turnover and moved to 100% renewable energy in our head office.

Technology company Alerter Group has announced increased reductions in CO2 emissions across its business, building on the success already seen in 2022 and hitting its sustainability targets a year early.

The organisation had committed to reduce its CO2e/turnover within Scope 1 and 2 by 50% in five years, between 2021 and 2026.

To achieve this target, Alerter Group has been promoting sustainable choices in a number of areas including across its procurement processes, business travel, energy use and waste generation.

Its latest figures, released this month, show that its CO2e/turnover has dropped by 59% as a result of these environment-focussed efforts.

A key contribution to the reduction comes from Alerter Group’s shift from fossil energy sources to renewable energy sources. Last year, the company announced that over 40% of Alerter Group’s energy was consumed from renewable resources. This year, the figure has increased – with Alerter Group’s office now running on 100% renewable energy.

The improvements don’t stop there; further developments in 2024 will include updating parts of the company’s vehicle fleet with vans that are 23% more efficient.

Alerter Group CEO Chris Haseldine explains:

“Our company is focused on creating technology that makes a difference to people’s lives, and that mission is strongly reflected in our sustainability efforts.

“Back in 2021 we committed to reducing our CO2/e turnover by 50% within four years; our latest figures show that we have already exceeded that target.

“We’re looking forward to continuing this success and making even more improvements via valuable changes such as upgrading our fleet and improving our everyday office processes.”

Alerter Group, which was established more than two decades ago, develops emergency communication systems such as fire alarm systems for Deaf and hard of hearing people, as well as building refuge systems for use by people with reduced mobility.

The company has been part of Infrastructure Technology Group Sdiptech since 2020.

Both Alerter Group and parent company Sdiptech are targeting to lower their operational impact on the environment, with a shared belief that investments made today affect the amount of greenhouse gases that could be emitted in the future.

More details about Sdiptech’s commitment to sustainability can be found on its website.
